It's official. A few minutes ago, Las Vegas management announced the name of their franchise. The Vegas Golden Knights will be the face of sport in Las Vegas, after months of anticipation.
From the first few comments in the SportsNet live broadcast of the unveiling, some fans weren't too amused. The show itself was awkward after a video error. Some commented that the logo wasn't too exciting.
Despite this, I'm fine with the Vegas Golden Knights. Although teams with the word golden in them have had no success (The California Golden Seals, later the Oakland Seals), I'm not sure if they would scrap the word and make themselves the Las Vegas Knights, as the major junior team has the rights to it. Fun fact, I've made a story on the Knights' booming success. If you want, check it out. The logo isn't too exciting, but it is quite modern. I'm willing to give the 31st franchise in the NHL a chance.

My Thoughts on the Vegas Golden Knights!

I'm not sure I like the logo. The black background melts into the V too much. If they got rid of the background and had just the helmet, or made the V a different color so it would stand out, I think I'd like it better. That said, more NHL is always a good thing! Are they going to join the Pacific division? Anyway, good luck, Golden Knights!
ReplyDeleteI agree with your thoughts in the logo. And yes, based on geographiCal views, if Nevada is west of Arizona, then yes, they should play in the Pacific.
